Space World

With the ending of the Space Shuttle program, we thought we’d pay tribute to all space exploration by visiting the only space themed amusement park, aptly named Space World. Having an affinity towards all things space we throughly enjoyed ourselves. We went with our friends Grant and Mariko and enjoyed the day going on roller-coasters, looking at lunar rovers, and moon rocks. A highlight of the day was the roller-coaster that shot us from 0-160 km in 3 seconds! Then it rocketed us up at a 90* angle and then back down again. One of the scarier rides for Tyler was the log flume ride (due to the random pitch black tunnels), yet a particular favorite for everyone.
Some interesting notes about this little adventure: it was a holiday weekend yet it was not at all crowded. Although the lines were short the wait time was forever, we were so puzzled by this. Unlike American theme parks, Space World rides had only one attendant and one car per ride. So from getting people off the car and actually starting the next group could take up to 30-45 min. Tyler’s patience was barely containable. But a new land and new way of life. We just hope Tokyo Disneyland won’t be like this when we visit it.
As the night came the neons turned on illuminating the rides, and we became tired. We had a great time and enjoyed this little day trip adventure.
