LORD + LADY MACBE+H

The Neighbor Locale

Our neighborhood of Toyohoma is quite in the middle of nowhere. It takes a 40 min to get to the nearest train station and supermarket. The other night we were on a quest for any restaurant, we ended up walking one hour and a half. Yeesh …. No other group of teachers here have it like this. We live in a town like Cedar C- wait no Beaver Utah, since all the activities and stores are train rides away. But as you saw in the video our house has quite a lot of space. But even more interesting is that it is so old. 1850s ! The owner said “I was a city girl from Osaka, and when I married my husband and moved here I had never seen living conditions (esp the bathroom) like this except in old history of samurai books..” Then as years past they added more and more to the house. Anyways our backyard is amazing green mountains, unlike those brown ones in SLC. And the ocean, well Inland Sea, is within 100 feet .. It’s amazing. Samantha relates it to Hawaii, I’ve never been so I guess. So at least we have a lot of outdoor things within reach and adventures to go on. The weather so far has been quite nice, with high of 50s and only low of 30s if that.. Night time walks home get pretty chilly, definitely not bitter freezing. Need to remember that our latitude is the same with South Cali. Sometimes we get frustrated with being in the boondocks but the architecture here is so traditional and unique (we love it), unlike in the bigger cities where slabs of concrete make apartment buildings. Plenty more to come as we adventure and explore around more and more.
